Fly like an Eagle

This Monday was Mexican Constitution day, which meant I didn't have to teach my classes. Since I had a free day my family decided to take me on a secret adventure. When they woke me up in the morning they told me that we were taking a trip and that I should bring my camera. When I asked Gaby and Daniel where we were going they told me we were going to a museum. So we hopped in the car and started a 2 hour drive to the state of Veracruz. We drove on some really high mountain roads which were super foggy and even switched driving directions at one point. 

Once we arrived I found out that we were not actually going to a museum, but instead we were going to a National Park! When we arrived the first thing we did was go up to a booth and the suited us up to go zip lining!!

After zip lining we decided to hike up and down the path at the park. It was a beautiful rain forest.

After the park we were all pretty tired and hungry so we decided to stop at a little restaurant for some food. The ladies there were really nice and came up and talked to us a lot. They were very interested in talking to me because they noticed I didn't "look like the rest of the family". Apparently I stick out like a sore thumb.

Puebla: Part 2

After our delicious lunches of gorditas, we made our way to a local park in Puebla. It was beautiful and seemed to be a popular spot for young couples! We also saw 3 different quinceaneras while we were there. The park was next to a mall, so we were able to go inside to use the bathroom and get a break from all the sun.

The next stop on our list was to visit a pre-columbian museum filled with great artifacts and art. They didn't allow cameras past the foyer, but I did get some pretty cool pictures with the chair/statue thing.

After the museum we did a little more exploring and we ended up stopping in another mall for an ice cream break.

I'm like 99% sure that little girl intentionally photo bombed me. 

After ice cream we attempted to find our hostel that we had made reservations at, but that was a lot easier said than done. The hostel was in a tiny city outside of Puebla called Cholula and we got very lost on our way to it. We walked around for about an hour with no real idea of where we were going, and once we actually found the hostel they informed us that they did not have our reservation and they did not have any available places for us. So the next adventure of finding a place to stay began. Luckily Edwin had GPS on his phone and he guided us right to where we needed to go. The hotel was pretty sketchy, but it was only about $12 USD per night, so you pretty much get what you pay for.

The next day was filled with cemitas, ruins, cathedrals, sightseeing, and even a little tribal dance show.

All in all I think I can say

 Puebla was a success!
